Seattle Derby Brats New Skater Camp registration is now open for 2013!

Skaters with a complete application and paid fees are accepted to New Skater Camp on a first come, first served basis. The total cost of camp is $150. The fee includes both camp registration and secondary sports insurance, required for flat track roller derby. You can pay for camp either online or by check. Financial aid is available if fees are a hardship.

We have moved to an online registration system this year. You can register here: http://go.teamsnap.com/divisions/2903/registration/706/register/new.

This is a new registration system, so please let us know if you have difficulty completing the registration process. The New Skater Camp Handbook, which is available during the registration process lists all of the required equipment, and the camp location, so be sure to print it out and keep it.

Please contactNewSkaterCamp@SeattleDerbyBrats.com if you have questions, or encounter any problems.

Due to the high level of demand, Seattle Derby Brats is holding two new skater camp sessions in Ballard this year.

Tryouts

Our regular season runs September through June. Unless you are a transfer skater from another league, YOU MUST COMPLETE NEW SKATER CAMP in order to try out for the Seattle Derby Brats in early September. New Skater Camp is a chance for girls to see what derby is really like and make sure it’s a good fit for them and the league. It also provides girls the opportunity to develop a higher level of skating and a new set of derby-related skating skills. Attending summer camp DOES NOT guarantee placement on the league. Tryouts in September are highly competitive.

The Seattle Derby Brats empowers girls to be strong, healthy and confident. We do this through a supportive, inclusive community teaching junior roller derby. We’re the first and largest junior league in this area. Our league has over 100 skaters and is comprised of 4 divisions:

Tootsy Rollers, ages 8-11 years old.

The youngest skaters in the league play the sport in a positional-only version.

Division I, ages 12-18 years old.

Skaters play positional-only and learn the foundations of roller derby strategy.

Division II, ages 12-18 years old.

Higher skilled and more experienced skaters, playing at a full-contact level.

Galaxy Girls, ages 12 – 18 years old.

Our competitive, full-contact travel team.
