Positional Derby, Age 7–11

Tootsy Rollers

Our Tootsy Rollers are the youngest members of our team, ranging from ages 7 to 11, and they're fantastic! At this level, they learn all the skills they need to skate safely while having fun. They also work with teammates and coaches to develop their positional derby skills. It’s important to note that Tootsy Rollers don’t do full contact. Our Tootsy Rollers teams participate in games throughout the year.

Positional Derby, Age 12–18

Division 1

This division is made up of skaters aged 12-18. Div 1 is perfect for those ready to take their positional blocking skills to the next level. It’s a great entry point for older skaters who are just starting, too! Whether you’re a new skater from New Skater Camp, League Tryouts, or a transfer skater, Div 1 has you covered.

Our focus is on developing fundamentals and positional blocking skills. It’s also an excellent opportunity for our skaters to work with more advanced gameplay strategies. We always stress the importance of trying our best and having fun doing it!

Throughout the year, our Div 1 teams compete against each other and at times, other teams from the Puget Sound area.

Division 2

Division 2 (Div 2) teams offer full-contact derby for skaters aged 12-18, without requiring travel.

Div 2 is designed as an introduction to full-contact roller derby, with skaters moving up from either Div 1 or Tootsy Rollers. Alternatively, they may enter via New Skater Camp or transfer from another league. Selection for Div 2 is determined based on coach recommendations.

ULTRA VIOLETS

Ultra Violets (UV) are Seattle Derby Brats' B-travel team and are limited to an average of 18-22 players who are selected via tryouts every season. They compete at an advanced level and bout against other junior league’s travel teams locally, nationally, and with our friends in Canada.

The focus of the Ultra Violets is teaching high level derby skills and strategies, with an emphasis on personal accountability for effort, both on and off the track. At this level, skaters are often in a specialized role (meaning they skate and train in one role for the season – blocker, jammer, pivot). Rosters are competitive, and playtime IS earned.
